2018 Summer Youth Enrichment Camps

The camps below are administered either by the ECU/NC State Collaborative or by our partners.  All of the camps will take place at the Gateway Technology Center on the campus of NC Wesleyan College.

They are listed in chronological order.

  • NC State Veterinary Medicine Camp
    • June 11 – June 15, 9am – 3pm (with some variation for field trips)
    • Open to current 6th-8th grade students
    • $200
    • Do you have what it takes to be a Veterinarian?  Come find out at this 5-day, non-residential camp from the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine.

  • Brick Scholars: Build a Robotic Theme Park
    • June 18 – June 22, 9am – 12pm
    • Open to current 1st-5th grade students
    • $175

  • Brick Scholars: Super Heroes Comic Book and Stop Motion Camp
    • June 18 – June 22, 1pm – 4pm
    • Open to current 1st-5th grade students
    • $175
    • Do you like super heroes?  Do you want to create your very own and tell their story through a comic book or stop motion video?
    • This camp is administered by Brick Scholars.  Visit the Brick Scholars website for more information and to register.
  • Edgecombe Math Camp/Nash Math Camp
    • June 26 – June 29
    • Open to current 3rd-5th grade students (must be residents of Edgecombe County or Nash County)
    • $0, due to the generous financial support of the Carolinas Gateway Partnership
    • Do you enjoy math?  Do you want a little extra math practice over the summer?

  • Shelton Leadership Challenge
    • July 8 – July 13, all-day/residential
    • Open to current 8th-12th grade students (graduating seniors included)
    • $500
    • The foundation of the program is based on General Shelton’s five cornerstones of values-based leadership – honesty, integrity, compassion, diversity, and social responsibility.
    • This camp is administered by NC Wesleyan College.  Visit thier Shelton Leadership Challenge page for more information and to apply.
    • Application deadline is May 18
  • NC State Cooperative Extension “MyPI” Camp (“PI”=Preparedness Initiative)
    • July 15-July 18, overnight camp
    • Offered to youth ages 12-18
    • $125 (Includes lodging, meals, and all supplies)
    • Two-time national award-winning camp in emergency and disaster preparedness. Get certified in CPR & AED usage, participate in a disaster simulation, and more.

  • Boddie Noell Raspberry Pi Camp
    • July 16 – July 20, 9am – 12pm
    • Open to current 6th-8th grade students
    • $50

  • MSEN STEM Camp
    • July 23 – July 27, 8am – 5pm
    • Open to current 6th-11th grade students

  • Middle School LEGO EV3 Mindstorm Robotics Camp
    • July 30 – August 3, 9am – 12pm
    • Open to current 6th-8th grade students

    • Do you want to learn how to code and program Mindstorm robots and have fun watching them compete in sumo wrestling challenges?

    • Open to current 3rd – 6th grade students
    • It is recommended that students who register have attended Robotics and Coding I or Space Adventures
